Holidaymakers planning cross channel ferry trips this year may be interested in a list published by the Brittany tourist board of ten reasons to visit the province.
One factor to consider is the region's affordability, with prices reportedly increasing by only 1.6 per cent since 2005.
There is also a wide range of activities to take part in, such as exploring the province's 600km of navigable waterways, which include the Ille et Rance canal from the St Malo ferry port to Rennes.
Cross channel ferry passengers can also bring their bikes along with them and choose from nine different cycling itineraries in Brittany, which take in forests, lakes, canals and many other locations.
There will be some 300 festivals and events held in Brittany throughout 2009, according to the local tourism agency, including the Vieilles Charrues festival in July, which this year will be headlined by Bruce Springsteen.
Another listed reason to visit the province is its rich Celtic culture and heritage, which is represented by the architecture, music, food and drink of many towns and villages.
