Travellers looking for a luxurious and indulgent holiday should book a ferry and head to Tenerife.
According to the island's tourist board, the destination has something for everyone and offers visitors an exciting range of activities.
Javier Blanco from Tenerife Tourism said that the image of "drunk British guys by the seaside" is changing and there are now plenty of areas where people can relax and take in the surroundings.
"We offer so many traditional locations like our heritage monument city. We can offer so many different things," he noted.
"Especially for the tourist it is good to go to the capital area where you are going to find so many nice shopping centres and cultural sites which are quite important in a luxury destination."
Figures from Tenerife Tourism show that Britons accounted for almost one-third (30 per cent) of total visitors to the island between January and September 2009.
