The olympic Flame sails with Blue Star Ferries
Ahead of the European Special Olympics to be held in Rome between 28/09/06 and 06/10/06, the Olympic Flame set sail for Italy from the port of Patras, on board car-passenger ferry Blue Horizon, on Sunday 3rd September.
Following a special ceremony for the passing of the flame which took place on St. Nicolas' Square, the flame of Hope and Culture departed from Patras, Cultural Capital of Europe for 2006, for Rome, host city of the European Special Olympics 2006, escorted by sailing boats.
In keeping with its policy of corporate social responsibility, Blue Star Ferries is once again a supporter of the Special Olympics, by facilitating the transportation of the torchbearers as well as hosting a gala event on board Blue Horizon.
