Ticket sales on Eurostar 'increase'

Eurostar has stated that ticket sales for the first half of 2007 have shown an increase, with a new service from St Pancras set to be available from November.

During the opening half of the year, sales saw a 13.6% rise and chief executive at the company Richard Brown is pleased with the figures, reports Homes Worldwide.

He stated that more travellers are anticipating shorter journey times to France, plus quicker speeds.

Now, the journey time from London to Lille stands at 1 hour and 20 minutes, the publication stated.

"We are expecting heavy demand from customers keen to enjoy even faster, shorter journeys to the Continent," Mr Brown told the publication.

This comes after Eurostar stated that it wants to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from trains by 25% by 2012, hoping to help the environment.

In related news, France is now generally more accessible to potential investors, after Brittany Ferries introduced new services from the south coast of England to the country.
