The company responsible for operating Portsmouth ferry port has revealed that time-lapse photography is being used to monitor the development of a new terminal at the site.
One photograph is being taken every 15 minutes throughout the day and night, with the resultant images being edited together to create a video.
Currently on view on the port's official website, the film shows the development of the groundwork for the terminal and highlights the structure's gradual growth.
The photography and editing work is being carried out by Ollie Larkin of Interval Films, who said: "This technology is the only way to see the huge difference from the beginning to end of this project.
"A whole year will be condensed down to about one minute."
The creation of a new terminal will provide benefits for companies and passengers at Portsmouth, which is Britain's best-connected ferry port.
Brittany Ferries is one of the largest operators at the base, with regular services to St Malo, Cherbourg and Caen in France and Santander in Spain, while
LD Lines offers
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre.
