Tuck into some seafood in Normandy

Tuck into some seafood in Normandy
People with a soft spot for seafood will be setting off on cross channel ferry trips in July for the Sea and Mackerel Festival.

This event is held in the town of Trouville-sur-Mer in Calvados on the last weekend of July every year.

Holidaymakers can visit the festival by catching ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with LD Lines or sailing from Portsmouth to Caen with Brittany Ferries.

The occasion is used as a way for the town to celebrate its fishermen and pay tribute to their bountiful catches, focusing specifically on the humble but much-prized mackerel.

Visitors will have plenty of opportunities to tuck into some tasty seafood at the festival and also enjoy the friendly atmosphere that is conjured up every year.

Travellers planning to visit Normandy later in the year can head to Bagnoles de l'Orne in September for its festival dedicated to wild mushrooms.

As well as sailing to Le Havre and Caen, people planning to visit Normandy can catch ferries from Dover to Dieppe with LD Lines or travel on the Portsmouth to Cherbourg ferry route operated by both Condor Ferries and Brittany Ferries.
