Families have been encouraged to consider ferry travel for an affordable holiday in Denmark this year.
National tourism agency VisitDenmark said that
DFDS Seaways' ferries from Harwich to Esbjerg represent a "very cost-effective option" as they enable families to travel with their own car and caravan for cheap accommodation.
During the summer months, DFDS Seaways offers up to four sailings a week on its Harwich to Esbjerg ferry route, with departures from the UK at 17:45 BST.
VisitDenmark recommended a number of attractions that are highly popular among families, such as Farup Sommerland in Blokhus, which boasts rollercoasters, fairground amusements and a water park.
Travellers can also head to Aalborg Zoo to see some of its 1,200 animals, while Randers Rainforest offers an indoor tropical safari featuring a variety of wildlife and plant species.
Denmark boasts thousands of kilometres of coastline and numerous white sand beaches, many of which have EU Blue Flag status.
Other services on offer to people planning a trip to Europe this year include
Stena Line's
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland and the Ramsgate to Ostend ferry route, which is served by
LD Lines and
TransEuropa Ferries.
