Visit 'one of the world's top cities' on Spain ferry breaks | | | | 08 February 2010 | Travellers who enjoy seeking out new destinations might be interested in taking ferries to Spain this year to visit Seville.
The Spanish city was voted the world's fourth best city in the 2010 Wanderlust Travel Awards.
It received an overall score of 94 per cent and was ranked ahead of the likes of Melbourne in Australia and San Francisco in the US.
Travellers who fancy visiting Seville can take ferries to Santander from either Portsmouth or Plymouth with Brittany Ferries and drive south through the heart of the country.
The city is the capital of the Andalusia region and is home to a variety of monuments and landmarks, including a Gothic cathedral that is one of the largest buildings of its kind in the world.
European destinations fared well in the 'top city' section of the Wanderlust awards, with Siena, Italy and Berlin, Germany also appearing in the top five.
The accolades are based on the opinions of magazine readers who visited various destinations around the world between December 2008 and November 2009.
People planning to visit Spain this year can also travel on P&O Ferries' Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry route.
