Visit the world's top restaurants on ferry breaks in Spain

Gastronomes will be catching ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao and Santander this year to visit a number of Spanish restaurants that have been voted among the best in the world.

In this year's San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list, four Spanish dining establishments made it into the top ten.

El Bulli in the town of Roses in north-east Spain took the top spot for the fourth consecutive year, while El Celler de Can Roca in Girona featured in fifth place.

San Sebastian on the country's north coast, a short drive away from the Bilbao and Santander ferry ports, is home to two restaurants that appeared in the top ten this year - Mugaritz and Arzak.

The San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list also featured two French establishments in the top ten - Bras in the town of Laguiole and Pierre Gagnaire in Paris.

Travellers can catch ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao with P&O Ferries, which also operates a regular Dover to Calais ferry service.

Ferries to Santander are available from both Plymouth and Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries.
