Football fans planning to sail with
Wightlink to attend the Isle of Wight Festival this summer need not worry about missing the beginning of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
The ferry operator revealed that, for the first time, World Cup matches will be shown on a giant screen at the festival.
Due to run from June 10th to 13th, the Isle of Wight Festival will coincide with the beginning of the football tournament on June 11th.
Visitors will be able to see a total of eight matches over the course of the weekend, including England's opening game against the USA on June 12th.
There will also be plenty of musical entertainment on offer at the festival, with the Strokes, Jay-Z and Sir Paul McCartney set to play the three headline slots.
Offering some advice for people planning to attend the event, Wightlink marketing manager Kerry Jackson said: "Every year a number of people leave booking ferry crossings to the last minute and then struggle to get across to the island in time to catch their favourite acts.
"We have limited space available now so urge festivalgoers to book now to avoid a last-minute panic."
The company operates
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Ryde, as well as a Lymington to Yarmouth ferry service.
