An Isle of Wight ferry break can provide the perfect way to escape what is considered to be the most depressing day of the year, according to
Wightlink.
'Blue Monday', which falls on January 25th this year, is thought to bring widespread dejection to people all over the country, with all festive cheer having evaporated and cold weather putting a dampener on weekend plans.
Wightlink offered some suggestions for people hoping to cheer themselves up, starting with a stay at one of the luxury rooms at The Hambrough.
Visitors can even treat themselves to a suite with a large balcony offering views of Ventnor Bay and the coastline.
Another accommodation option is the Wellington Hotel in Ventnor, which also offers sea-view rooms and leisure facilities.
People looking for a rural retreat were encouraged to consider Gotten Manor, which is located in a secluded spot at the foot of St Catherine's Down.
Those who decide to treat themselves to a break on the Isle of Wight can take ferries to Fishbourne or Ryde from Portsmouth with
Wightlink, or alternatively use the company's Lymington to Yarmouth ferry route.
