Wightlink encourages families to plan ahead

Wightlink encourages families to plan ahead
Families planning a UK holiday during the February half-term period should make their bookings soon to avoid disappointment, according to Wightlink.

The ferry operator said that the trend of taking breaks at home reached its "popularity peak" last year, with hotels and self-catering properties in Britain seeing high demand as economic conditions and exchange rates influenced people's destination choices.

Wightlink predicted that the 'staycation' will remain popular this year and urged parents to think ahead if they are planning a getaway next month.

The company offers quick and easy access to the Isle of Wight with its Fishbourne and Ryde ferry services from Portsmouth, as well as regular ferries to Yarmouth from Lymington.

Wightlink recommends a number of accommodation options, including the Orchards camping holiday park in Newbridge, the Niton Barns complex to the south of the island and the Seaview, a hotel located in a sailing village of the same name.

There are many other options for people planning a break in the UK or Ireland for half-term, including taking ferries to Belfast from Liverpool or Stranraer to explore counties such as Antrim, Down and Armagh.
