Wightlink has provided a number of reasons for animal owners to bring their furry friends along on an Isle of Wight ferry break during National Pet Month, which will run from April 3rd to May 3rd.
The company pointed out that the Isle of Wight boasts more than 500 miles of footpaths and plenty of open areas - perfect terrain for dog walking.
Travellers will also find that Wightlink ferries are "pet-friendly", with dogs carried free of charge and permitted in designated passenger lounges, meaning they do not have to be kept inside a car during the crossing.
Wightlink offers regular
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
The company has released an online fact sheet to help dog owners plan their break on the island, providing details of the most popular walks, as well as beaches and pubs that are open to well-behaved pets.
People planning to visit the Isle of Wight this year will be able to attend a number of events on the island, including the spring Walking Festival, which will run from May 8th to 23rd.
Wightlink also operates
ferries from Lymington to Yarmouth, while
Hovertravel offers a link from Southsea to Ryde.
