Wightlink is permitting dog owners to carry their pets on board its ferries in April during National Pet Month.
The ferry operator is allowing Britons to bring their dogs into passenger lounges between April 3rd and May 3rd.
Dogs are usually limited to the cars of their owners and are not permitted to enter passenger areas of the ship.
In a statement, the company said: "Wightlink Ferries has also produced an online fact sheet, designed to help dog owners plan and get the most out of a trip to the Isle of Wight.
"This provides information on the top-rated island walks for dogs, beaches that welcome well-behaved dogs and details of pooch-friendly pubs on the Isle of Wight."
National Pet Month aims to promote responsible ownership and encourage people to understand the benefits of owning a pet.
Organised by a registered charity, the initiative features several events and activities across the country.
