With Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday this year, couples have the perfect excuse to take ferries to the Isle of Wight to enjoy a romantic retreat, according to
Wightlink.
The ferry operator recommended a number of hotels that will guarantee a memorable experience for sweethearts hoping to escape on February 14th.
People looking for "gourmet indulgence" were advised to consider The Hambrough in Ventnor, a boutique hotel facing the sea that boasts seven exclusive rooms and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
The Sentry Mead hotel near Totland was described by
Wightlink as the best spot for "Victorian elegance", while The Seaview near Ryde is reportedly a better option for couples who want to enjoy the coastal scenery.
Other options include Priory Bay between Bembridge and Seaview, which provides access to several romantic walks, and the secluded Niton Barns in the picturesque village of Niton to the south of the island.
Wightlink operates ferries to Ryde and Fishbourne from Portsmouth, as well as a Lymington to Yarmouth ferry service.
