Wightlink has encouraged people who enjoy attending unusual events to take a ferry to the Isle of Wight this summer to visit the Garlic Festival.
The ferry operator sponsors the event, which will take place in rural Newchurch on August 14th and 15th.
Visitors will be able to sample sausages and various other foods featuring the popular ingredient, as well as beer and even ice cream flavoured with garlic.
Newchurch is located in the eastern half of the island, which travellers can reach by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Ryde with
Wightlink.
As well as sampling the range of garlic-themed snacks, visitors can enjoy the family entertainment on offer during the festival, with local bands set to perform and Titan the robot due to make an appearance.
There will also be Punch and Judy shows, magic, sheepdog trials and much more to enjoy.
Holidaymakers can reach the island by taking
ferries from Lymington to Yarmouth with Wightlink or crossing from Southsea to Ryde with
Hovertravel.
