Wightlink has donated £800 to a new fuel poverty appeal which aims to help older people this winter.
Kerry Jackson, from Wightlink, presented a cheque to former TV presented Dickie Davies, who is representing the campaign in the Isle of Wight as well as Hampshire.
The Surviving Winter campaign is taking place around the UK and is encouraging people to donate funds to help out older people struggling with their winter fuel bills.
It is also aimed at wealthier older adults who can afford to give their winter fuel allowance away.
Ms Jackson told Island Pulse: "The Isle of Wight has a growing elderly population and many will be struggling to keep warm this winter. Wightlink are delighted to be able to support this very worthy cause, and hope it will encourage our customers who can afford it, to make a donation as well."
The issue of fuel poverty came to light after winter fuel payments for older people fell this year.
