People with a passion for all things nautical will soon be booking ferry crossings to the Isle of Wight with
Wightlink ahead of Cowes Week 2010.
Organisers of the forthcoming event, which will run from July 31st to August 7th, recently revealed that it will feature a new programme of shore-side activities, which will "provide the perfect complement to a packed racing schedule".
One of the highlights will be the annual Cowes Week fireworks display on August 6th, which will be able to return this year thanks to a donation from an anonymous contributor.
People planning to see the show can take
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Ryde with Wightlink for easy access to Cowes.
Also due to return this summer is the traditional Red Arrows display on August 6th, while the Royal National Lifeboat Institution charity day is scheduled for August 2nd.
Other highlights will include a celebration of women in sailing on August 4th, live music at Shepards Wharf Marina and entertainment at Cowes Yacht Haven.
Wightlink also offers
ferries from Lymington to Yarmouth, while
Hovertravel operates crossings between Southsea and Ryde.
