Thousands of people are expected to be heading to the Isle of Wight Festival next year, with
Wightlink likely to be transporting many of them to the island.
Tickets for the event will go on sale at 09:00 GMT on November 25th, after which festival-goers can start thinking about booking their ferries to the Isle of Wight. Vodafone customers, however, will get an exclusive pre-sale period, which begins at 08:00 on November 23rd and ends an hour before the general sale takes place.
For one year only, the festival is being held on a different weekend than usual to avoid clashing with half-term and Diamond Jubilee celebrations. As a result, it is taking place from June 22nd-24th, with some of the biggest names in music expected to descend on the island.
The first headliner of the 2012 has already been announced: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. They will be taking to the main stage on June 24th in what will be Springsteen's first ever visit to the island and only his third festival performance in the UK.
Festival promoter John Giddings commented: "It's taken years to get him here, but it will have been worth the wait - he is one of the greatest acts of all time, it's going to be a classic year."
Details on the other acts will be released in due course, with previous bands including Pulp and The Foo Fighters.
Tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival are priced at £190 per adult for those who wish to camp, while a non-camping ticket costs £160. Children between the ages of seven and 12 can buy tickets priced at £95 for camping and £80 for non-camping. All of these prices are subject to the agent's booking fees.
