Ferries to Finland may be in demand following a claim that the country is very enjoyable in the cold weather.
Anne Lind, marketing director of tourist board VisitFinland, said that there is something for everyone all year round.
In particular, winter activities like skiing, snowmobile safaris and reindeer tours are very popular, while traditional Finnish saunas are the ideal way to relax in both summer and the colder months.
"We recommend everybody to try it at least in the summer time when you are staying in a cottage and also in the winter time you can find a sauna in every Finnish hotel," Ms Lind noted.
"A Finnish sauna is original and we throw water on the stones and it is very steamy and very good for your blood circulation."
Data from Statistics Finland suggested that around 350,000 people from the UK visited the country in the first nine months of 2009.
