Travelling by sea could prove an ideal way for Britons to take a cheap break this winter, according to a new report.
An article by Simon Heptinstall published in the Daily Mail claims that winter ferry travel represents "a remarkable bargain" and allows passengers to avoid the stress of airline baggage restrictions and extra charges.
One option recommended by the writer is
LD Lines' Dover to Boulogne ferry service, which is offering low prices and plenty of capacity following the recent launch of a bigger ship on the route.
Boulogne is described as "more than just a ferry port", as it boasts "plenty of charming corners" for visitors to explore.
The Daily Mail article recommends a number of services for people planning to visit other European countries, such as
Stena Line's Harwich to Hook of Holland ferry link, which is operated by a ship featuring two restaurants and a cinema.
DFDS Seaways is also offering low prices for ferries to Amsterdam from Newcastle to encourage customers to travel during the winter months.
