Nice Ferry Port Overview
The port of Nice, also known as Lympia port, is situated in the heart of the city, close to the historical part of the city and is just a few minutes' walk from many of the city's main tourist attractions. Nice is in the Cote d'Azur region, on the Mediterranean Sea, which is one of the most famous and beautiful resorts in Europe.
Nice is the 5th largest city in France and one of the most visited cities after Paris, mainly by English, American, Scandinavian and Italian tourists. Nice boasts stretches of white sandy beaches and is close to the famous town of Cannes.
2000 years ago, inhabitants from Marseille won Nice from Italy and called it Nikaïa after Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory. Nice has always been a contested territory; for a long period, it was part of Italy and eventually in 1861; it was annexed to the French Empire.
Nice offers a variety of activities and amenities from lodging and dining, to shopping, sunbathing and swimming. Cinemas, theaters, opera and museums are all on your door step. Alternatively you can simply stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy the amazing views.
Nice has many beautiful squares to visit, including the Place Massena, which is one of the most representative of Nice, or the spectacular Tete au carré, the building of the Louis Nucera's library.
There are many important museums in Nice, such as the Marc Chagall, the Matisse, the Museum of Modern Arts and the Massena. While in the region, you can also visit the Pablo Picasso and the Antibes Museum.
