About Patmos

In church tradition, St John was imprisoned on the island of Patmos and it was supposedly from Patmos that he wrote his famous (and quite trippy) Revelation of St John. This was one of the most controversial books to appear in the Bible and it was several centuries before it was recognised as being inspired by all the different churches.

Patmos Port

The island of Patmos is located in the Dodecanese range of islands and has been famous throughout history - though some of the time it has been famous as a place of exile and prison. Today, Patmos is a great place to visit and ferries go from Patmos to other islands in the Dodecanese region as well as to Pireaus on mainland Greece. Ferries to and from Patmos can be booked online with AFerry.co.uk.

Patmos port facilities

The facilities at Patmos port are basic, but the town of Skala is not far away and offers a more comprehensive range of facilities.

Getting to Patmos

The port is located in the town of Skala and is clearly signposted across the island. Regular buses and taxis connect this port with the rest of the island.

    • Piraeus to Patmos with Blue Star Ferries

Very eficient, very professional and very clean. But you should improve the luggage storage part ,and why not to think of a lift for thoso who stay in the cabins(and are less young sometimes...)

    Not very good, indeed!
    • Piraeus to Patmos with Blue Star Ferries

we booked our trip in advance and 2 weeks before leaving, the Blue Star annonced they had cancelled the ferry from Patmos to Pireus without giving us any explanation and any alternative (others ferries were already booked out)!!!!! We had to take a ferry to Kos and fly to Athens, just what we didn't want to do!!! Also in Pireus, when we asked where to go to take the ferry, they didn't take a minute to explain clearly what we had to do.
