Patras Ferry Port Overview
For many years Patras languished, playing second fiddle to the ferry port of Piraeus. Now, with its new port, Patras has gained the title of Greece's "Gateway to the West." Patras Ferry Port has become in the last decade a central port for communication with Italy, via the islands of the Ionian.
Patras is the third largest city in Greece and situated in northern Peloponnese. Patras is built at the foot of Mount Panachaikon and overlooks the Gulf of Patras. Patras has two public universities and one technological Institute and hosts a large student population.
Places of interest are the Patras archaeological museum where finds from Mycean tombs can be admired, the Venetian Fortress and a Roman Odeon built in the 2nd century A.D. The city is known worldwide for the yearly Carnival, which is held 40 days before Greek Easter.

Patras Ferry Port plays an important in the eastern Mediterranean and has new passenger terminals in both the new and existing port. You will find the ferry port in the heart of the city. In the port area there are toilets, travel agents and tour operators. Just outside the port you will find a wide selection of shops, hotels, restaurants, banks and echange.

By Road
The road network in Peloponese is good and provides easy access to Patras Ferry Port. It is directly linked to the new PATHE highway connecting Patras, Athens, and Thessaloniki. The recent completion of the nearby Rio-Antirio bridge is an additional important factor in connecting Patras with the port of Igoumenitsa and the rest of Greece. Just follow route 9 directly into Patras. The ferry port is clearly signposted.
By Rail/Bus
Patras can easily be reached from other Greek cities on the mainland by bus and train. From Kifissos KTEL Intercity Bus Station in Athens every half hour a bus leaves for Patras. The journey takes about 3 hours. From the KTEL Intercity Bus Station in Patras you can either take a taxi to Patras Ferry Port or go on foot as the port is within walking distance.
