Paxi Ferry Port Overview
Paxi is situated about 8 miles south of Corfu. This tiny island of Paxi looks more like a forest growing out of the sea.
According to the Greek mythology Paxi was created by Poseidon, the ancient God of the sea, by striking the island Corfu with his trident so he and his and wife Amphitrite could enjoy some peace and calm.
Paxi is great for walkers, and is fairly flat. On the east coast of Paxi there are lots of pretty coves. The west coast of Paxi is more rugged and rocky, and many caves can be found. Almost 80% of the attractive island is covered with olive groves.
The capital of the island, Gaios, has a lot to offer to tourist. Beside a selection of good tavernas and bars there is a beach within walking distance.
