Norfolkline
Cross channel ferry crossings
- Norfolkline vessels are able to carry pets as long as we are advised at the time of the booking and provided a pet passport number.
- Pets are charged at £30 per animal.
- Maximum 5 Dogs per car.
- In case of travelling with horses/ponies, due to the nature of the vehicle type bookings must be made through our freight reservation's department.
Irish Sea ferry crossings
- No charge and no max quota.
- Animals must remain in the vehicle during the crossing, however there are a number of dog kennels available and are on a first come first served basis.
Northlink Ferries
- Pets may be left in (ventilated) vehicles - No charge if pet stays in car, but there is no access to the car deck during the voyage for safety reasons.
- Kennels for dogs and cats are available for a small charge and should be booked in advance (£7.80 per pet per way).
- The kennel room is heated and ventilated, and there is a water supply. You may visit your pets in the kennels during the voyage, and there is access from the kennels to the open decks should you wish to exercise your pet.
- With the exception of support dogs, animals are not allowed in public areas or cabins.
- 4 x large animal kennels 800mm (width) x 1400mm (depth) x 1000mm (height); 9 x small animal kennels 500mm x 700mm x 600mm; The units have solid walls, ceilings and floors, with wire mesh front gates, and are raised from the floor to avoid draughts and for ease of cleaning.
P&O Ferries
- £15 per pet each way (same price on all crossings).
- Maximum - 4 animals per car.
Dover to Calais:
- Check-in at least one hour before departure.
- Dogs must stay in the car for the duration of the crossing.
- Foot passengers are able to carry pets in containers which are lockable, of sound construction and able to withstand being secured on the ship, with the animals remaining on the lower deck for the duration of the journey.
Hull-Rotterdam/Zeebrugge:
- Check-in at least ninety minutes before departure.
- Animals remain inside air-conditioned kennels on the vehicle decks during the duration of the crossing.
- Foot and coach passengers are unable to carry pets, with the exception of registered guide and hearing dogs.
Portsmouth-Bilbao crossing:
- Due to the length of the sailing we are unable to accept pets on the Portsmouth-Bilbao crossing.
P&O Ferries Irish Sea
- £20 per pet per way.
- Pets will be permitted to travel in their owner's vehicles, and must remain in the vehicle for the duration of the crossing.
- Bookings including pets must be made in advance of travel.
- Access to the car deck during the crossing is not permitted other than in exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of and accompanied by a member of staff.
- Foot passengers and passengers travelling by coach will not be permitted to travel with pets.
- Unaccompanied pets will not be accepted on any of our services.
Pentland Ferries
- Free of charge.
- Dogs must stay in car and need to have a pet passport and relevant vaccination to travel.
RedFunnel
- Free of charge.
- Dog will stay in the car and if you are foot passengers you need to check with Redfunnel if you can travel with your pets.
- Dogs can also go to top deck just not in passenger deck
Scandlines
- Free of charge.
- Dogs must stay in car and need to have a pet passport and relevant vaccination to travel.
- No foot passengers can travel with pets.
SeaFrance
- £25 (46 Euros) from France. No charge from the UK.
- No foot passengers can travel with pets.
- Dogs must stay in car and need to have a pet passport and relevant vaccination to travel.
Smyril Line
- No Pets are accepted on any routes. Pets are not allowed into Iceland on a short vacation, minimum stay should be 3 months. This rule is set by the Icelandic Govt, not the operator.
Stena Line
Ireland/UK
- There are no restrictions on taking your pets to Ireland or Britain.
- Cats and dogs may travel in your car free of charge on the Irish Sea.
- Foot passengers are unable to take dogs.
- Pets can travel in kennels on the car deck on all routes between Britain and Ireland. We cannot take advance reservations however and kennels are issued on a first come, first served basis.
Holland/UK
- On our Harwich-Hook of Holland route, pets travel for £10 each way.
- Your pet can travel in the car or in the on board kennels (where available) and you can visit during the crossing, subject to weather conditions and staff discretion.
- Please ask at the information desk about possible access times once you're onboard.
- Horses would have to be booked as freight due to the nature of the vehicle they are carried in.
Scandlines
- Free of charge.
- Dogs must stay in car and need to have a pet passport and relevant vaccination to travel.
- No foot passengers can travel with pets.
SNCM
- Use of a kennel where we will provide the best transportation conditions in an individual cage (some kennels are also air-conditioned).
- Keep your dog in your car for free. Cats and other small animals can stay in your car or with you in a suitable box or basket, providing they do not disturb other passengers.
- The parking decks on our ships are ventilated and checked. For safety reasons, you cannot go down to the parking decks during the crossing.
- For dogs, cats, ferrets: identification system, anti-rabies vaccination and veterinary certificate are required.
Marseille - Tunis:
- 32 Euros each way.
- Dogs stay in a kennel and it is subject to availability.
Superfast Ferries / Blue Star Ferries
- A limited number of Pet cabins are available on board (necessary to reserve these cabins in advance) : 50 Euros per pet each way. (Not available on F/B Blue Star Ithaki),
- A small number of kennels are also available: 20 Euros per pet each way.
- Pets are not allowed in cabins other than the specially designated pet cabins, bars, restaurants and the ship's indoor public areas.
- When walking on the open deck, they are required to wear muzzle and be on a leash, accompanied by a guardian.
- Passengers traveling with a pet should hold updated health documents for their pet and are responsible for the pet's care, safety and hygiene.
- Special areas for the pets' daily hygiene are available on board. Unaccompanied pets are not accepted.
SNAV
- 10 Euros each way.
- Household pets can be transported in the special areas destined for this purpose on board provided they have a valid ticket and vaccination document.
- Our company also guarantees maximum comfort for your pets, accommodating them in comfortable kennels since they are not allowed in the interior passenger areas of the boat.
- The passenger is personally responsible for the care and supervision of his/her pets.
- Dogs must wear muzzles and must be kept on leads in public places and on means of transport.
Trasmediterranea
- In accordance with the applicable legal provisions, transport of pets shall exclusively be carried out in the spaces of ships provided for this purpose.
- The charge for carrying pets varies according to the line.
- The passenger must carry the certificates of their pets, as prescribed by the Health Authorities.
- The food and care of the pets whilst on board shall be the responsibility of their owners.
- Each pet needs its own ticket - cannot be added to passenger booking ( only 1 pet per ticket, if you have 2 pets make 2 bookings).
- Mediterranean (Spain/Balearic islands): from 13.50 Euros each way.
- Southern Straits (Spain/Africa): Depending on route prices range between 9 to 27.50 per pet each way.
- Canaries: To and From Cadiz: 62 Euros per pet each way / crossings between the canary islands: 6 Euros per pet each way.
Transmanche Ferries
- £20 per pet each way.
- Stay in the car for duration of crossing.
- No access to car deck during crossing.
TransEuropa
- Pets are not allowed to travel on Transeuropa Lines.
TT Lines
- 14.00 Euros each way.
- Dogs are accepted onboard but it is not possible to keep them in the car.
- Pet must stay in special cabin on over night crossing.
- For day trip cabin is not compulsory.
Tallink
Between Sweden and Åland,Silja Line:
- 15 Euros per animal per direction.
- Cabin reservations are compulsory on both day and night departures (except for journeys to/from Aland).
- Passengers travelling with pets must reserve a whole cabin in the Seaside-Tourist II classes (not the Promenade class) for their party.
- There are a limited number of cabins available and only one pet is allowed per cabin.
- The number of animals per sailing is limited.
Between Sweden and Estonia, Tallink:
Between Finland and Estonia on Tallink AutoExpress:
- Transport of pets in the passenger sections is not allowed (except for guide dogs).
- Pets may be transported in a car or in a cage on the car deck at the owner's responsibility.
- Owners may not visit the car deck during the voyage.
- Limited number of animals per departure.
Between Finland and Estonia on Galaxy and Vana Tallinn:
- 13 Euros per animal per direction.
- On Vana Tallinn cabin reservations are compulsory.
Venezia Lines
- 10 Euros per pet each way.
- Cats need to be in a cage and dogs must be on a leash and wearing a muzzle.
- All pets must be kept on the floor as pets are not allowed to be seated on passenger seats.
Viking Line
- Bookings for dogs and cats is obligatory on all routes. Prices 12 Euros except Helsinki/Tallin 14 Euros per pet per way (Guide dogs on all routes free of charge).
- Onboard the pets are requested to remain on open decks if the weather is favourable.
- Cats and dogs may stay in cabins (not on the beds) if their owner has reserved the whole cabin for himself.
- It is prohibited to take pets on cruises and on the ship Cinderella.
- Dogs must on a leash and wearing a muzzle when outside your cabin.
- Dogs may be walked only on the outer deck.
- Pets can be left in the car - however there is no access to the car deck during the crossing.
Ventouris Ferries
- Pets travel free and are not allowed in the cabins, restaurant and bars of the vessel.
Wightlink
- Free of charge.
- Dog-friendly areas are in the upper passenger lounge and outside decks on the Portsmouth/Fishbourne service and sheltered outside decks on the Lymington/Yarmouth route.
- Can stay in car.
