Piran's port is located in South West Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. The sheer number of historic buildings in Piran make it feel like walking through a large gallery or museum. Piran is clearly signposted from the end of the H5 motorway onwards and is accessible by either car or bus. There are no trains going to Piran. If you are travelling by car, note that they are not allowed inside the historic old quarters of the town.
