About Rotterdam Europoort

Rotterdam is the largest city in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands and the second largest municipality in the Netherlands after the capital Amsterdam. The Rotterdam port and industrial complex fulfils an important role as a hub for international goods flows and as a business location for industry and logistic services.

Rotterdam was founded in the mid 13th century as a small fishing village. The name Rotterdam has been derived from a dam in the Rotte river. At the beginning of the Second World War almost the entire city centre was heavily damaged by German raids. This explains why hardly any pre-war buildings have remained in this part of Rotterdam.

Rotterdam has many interesting museums as there is the well known the Boijmans-van Beuningen Museum, the Historisch Museum (Historical museum) and the Kunsthal a center for contemporary art. A visit to Rotterdam isn't complete without a visit to the Euromast, the highest lookout tower in the Netherlands or a boat excursion over the Nieuwe Maas and the Lek Rivers.

    Small cabin
    • Hull to Rotterdam Europoort with P&O Ferries (North Sea)

For the first time in three years of using this service, we did not receive an outer cabin. The inner cabins are very small, with minimal storage. As a touring motorcyclist we struggled to find even enough space for our equipment. Catering was good, entertainment was poor overall.

Good way to travel to Europe
    • Hull to Rotterdam Europoort with P&O Ferries (North Sea)

Enjoyed our recent journey to and from Europe by ferry. Suited us to travel with our car. Slightly disappointed in choices of meals in the restaurant. Reasonably good value for money and quick way to get there

    Family with older children
    • Hull to Rotterdam Europoort with P&O Ferries (North Sea)

The beds were comfy, it was fairly clean, the kids entertainer was pants on the way out, but wonderful on the way home. It is quite expensive for what it is. I have no idea what the catering is like, but (did not try it) was not an option.
