Not the best start to our Christmas Holidays!
    • Cherbourg to Rosslare with Celtic Link Ferries

We travelled on this ferry on our way home for Christmas holidays. We had to park our car on top of the ship which meant that it was exposed to the elements overnight. This is the first time we have had such an experience when travelling by ferry. On entering the ship, we had to queue for over half an hour for our room key. Our annoyance at having to do this was worsened by the unpleasant stench of fish and toilets that seemed to permeate the corridors. The food on-board was passable at best. The café bar was closed. The staff spoke very little English and looked very scared every time they were asked questions. The smell of paint near the bar and restaurant was explained to us by one of the bar men, who told us that painting had been going on earlier that day. Overall, the ferry was in poor condition, was uncomfortable and lacked the basic facilities we have come to expect when travelling by ferry.

    The Wine Trip
    • Rosslare to Cherbourg with Celtic Link Ferries

Booking the journey was straight-forward and presented no difficulties. We did not use the catering on the way out because my wife was ill BUT we did use it on the way back and found it to be great. ALL staff were friendly and courteous at all times, particularly when we were trying to find our cabin. The cabins were clean and as comfortable as you could reasonably expect on an overnight journey. Reception staff were very friendly and totally efficient. On the return journey we did manage to get a cabin, something I would recommend, as we rang up the Cherbourg office of Stena a couple of days before we were due to return and got sorted out! It was particularly important to us as we had to drive from Rosslare to the north coast. The sea was a mill-pond all the way back which meant a good nights rest before the long journey home. Our trip was to buy wine and to visit my brother. The cost of the crossing was very attractive and a couple of hours easy driving in France got us to our destination. NOTHING negative to say about this booking!
