You can't buy a better standard cabin before boarding, Commodore's cabin is available at the Reception desk, as an upgrade, but not before. I was travelling by car and was directed to the very narrow corridor on Deck 4. It was so narrow that I had to fold the mirrors while driving along and then I could not get out of the car using driver's doors, but had to crawl to the other side. Then I had to climb steep and slippery stairs to deck 6 dragging my hand luggage. Wearing heeled sandals didn't make this easy. At the reception I was offered to speak to the officer who admitted that DFDS has got few complaints every time they board people to deck 4 corridors. I am surprised that they haven't learnt the lesson yet. They should warn travellers against the conditions they offer and if there is no proper parking space they should not sell tickets, unless people agree to participate in it. Certainly it may not matter to bikers, cyclists or small car owners. The cabin was very basic with very loud and drunk young people as my neighbours. Nobody from the crew has intervene to quiet them during the night. In a restaurant - I received a bloody steak because a waiter assumed that this is what I wanted without asking, she apologised though and offered me free ice-creams. Reception staff offered some drinks and snack to calm me down and the officer gave me a breakfast voucher. Fine. They tried to make it up for my inconvenience. Still I would rather pay for comfortable journey, cabin and breakfast and avoid the experience all together. Hopefully they will improve before my next journey. 6.2
Cannot fault the ferry crossing but the food! If you want decent food then before or after the ferry is wise. 16.5 euro for lukewarm fish and chips that have been under a heat lamp all day is no joke. Complaints fall on deaf ears. Maybe we were unlucky but judging from other passengers plates I think not!!! 7.8
Booking and travelling was easy and everything was fully in accordance with expetations. A-ferry gave us good range of ferry-lines to pick from and sharp price on the selected line. 8.0
Very good food (7 seas buffet & buffet breakfast), if expensive. No table reservations for buffet possible between 19:00 and 20:30 (Danish time). Booked cheapest possible cabin, but spacious & well equiped. Duvet a bit thin. Arrived on time & disembarkation was efficient. 8.0
Very service-minded crew. Twin-bed cabin comfortable, quiet & clean. Limited social facilities. Bar drinks overpriced. Much better ferry than used to be on this route. |
