Fast but inconsiste ..
I accidentally booked a single trip from Calais to Folkestone instead of the other way round. When I contacted Aferry the next day I was told to book another train and they would then refund me the difference minus a £25 amendment fee. There was no way I could just swap the departure details. When I went to book the correct train, the price had literally doubled from just under £90 one way, to over £160 one way with no explanation. When I phoned Aferry to confirm this, they said that the price was set by Eurotunnel and they had no control over it. The end result was that instead of paying £86 for the trip, I ended up paying nearly £140. My mistake, but pretty harsh considering I wasn't cancelling the trip, just trying to change the details. Also, the charge to use a credit card went from £2 to just over £4 for the second transaction! The train is fast and efficient, but when you can get a return ferry for around £40, the price difference is considerable especially if you're in no rush to cross the channel!

If you are a motorc ..
I travelled at the end of March 2013. The Tunnel was £81 return a ferry would have been £55 return.

I was travelling in very cold conditions, and it took about 15 mins to get to the train, once we were allowed to embark, in the snow. Very cold.

When I got to the train I was told to wait (in the snow) on the platform until all the cars had been loaded. On the train, nowhere to sit, and the toilets didn't work.

The return journey was just as bad, except the train was almost an HOUR late, which meant another nearly 2 hours in the car park, in near freezing conditions.

Finally got to the train, and again, was made to wait on the platform until all the cars had been loaded, and again, nowhere to sit, and the toilets didn't work.

First and last time i will use this overpriced under resourced form of channel crossing.

Fast but expensive
It was fast but a bit expensive. I booked the train just a few hours before I was departing. Very well organized, but £120 for traveling I think it was a bit expensive. Overall it was very fast. In less than 40 mins I was in France.

The checkin was pretty easy and no hassle like when you go by ferry but stil more expensive than the ferry. I will definetly use it again but only if I'm in a bit of a rush. Otherwise I will go by ferry. More to see on the ferry, lots of shops, canteens, etc etc.
