The ticket office at the port was very hard to find. No waiting area for foot passengers except new single storey building behind old port station and that was so hot as to be quite unusable even in May. Everywhere totally deserted, no facilities except independent cafe and passengers just hanging about on side of road. Little info hut didn't have any info!
Set dinner menu on board had no choices and primitive and secondi patti had same sauce. Staff OK on boat, not over helpful.

Really had a good time, restful relaxation, interesting to watch the dock and boat crew to prepare for departure and do all the assorted tasks done on the front crew reek, I have to say, though, the food in the self service dining room was not very good, and each entree available was hardly warm!!

Overall the boat trip was good value & an interesting mode of travel from Sicily to Sardinia. The boarding location in Trepani was somewhat inconvenient being around the harbour from hotels. The young lady handling check-in at the office was very helpful & friendly. She arranged share taxi for few of us from office to the boarding berth. She also arranged for optimal cabin for me on the boat. I had shower in my cabin followed by comfortable sleep on the night crossing. Although it would have been nice to leave Sicily in the daylight rather than around midnight , this was counterbalanced by the wonderful sight of Cagliari in beautiful morning sunlight. The docking location is very convenient in central Cagliari. Thus I had only short walk to my hotel. Grazie for the memorable trip !

You can use a ferry as a hotel. I wish there
is a nice restaurant in the ferry. Also, the towel is too small and thin.

This is a very useful route particularly for the car owner - you don't really want to drive through Calabria, so a businesslike overnight journey like this one is convenient and good value for money. Tirrenia seem to be a far better company than Grandi Navi; I have banged on about that particular enterprise before on this site. Unsurprisingly they were not even providing a service from Palermo to Genoa over the holiday, and a trip with them leaves one feeling decidedly like steerage (one of their staff even had the nerve to tell me once that their priority is freight, and personal travellers come a decided second!) With Tirrenia, there's none of that, though one does then have to drive up country, and it's a big country with, at the moment, very high fuel and toll charges. You can't win, not really!
