Book Smyril Line with A Ferry UK where you can cruise the North Atlantic, visiting the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Denmark.
Smyril Line was established in 1982 with the aim of operating a passenger and vehicle ferry service on the North Atlantic linking Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Scotland/Shetland, Norway and Denmark.
Smyril Lines North Atlantic Link used to be operated the MF Norröna 12,000 GRT vessel, with an overall capacity of 1,050 passengers and 300 cars. Since April 2003 Smyril Line introduced a new, modern ferry, which can carry up to 1,482 passengers and 800 cars, with a top speed of 21 knots, it provides a frequent and reliable service across the North Atlantic.
However, due to the recent turnaround of events such as rising fuel costs, fewer passenger numbers and unscheduled dockings, Symril Line had to make some drastic alterations to the current schedule in order for the company to sustain through the tough times. Smyril Line will not be sailing to the ports of Norway or Scotland during the 2009 season.
