Turku Ferry Port

Turku's port connects Finland to Aland, Sweden and Scandinavia

Turku Ferry Port is located at the mouth of river Aura, in the South West of Finland. For centuries Turku has acted as the commercial bond between Finland and the rest of Europe, making it one of the most important shipping ports in Finland and Scandinavia. The Port of Turku was founded on a natural trading post at the mouth of the River Aura, and has played a pivotal role in the development of this Finnish city. Over four million passengers travel through the Turku Ferry port annually to Stockholm in Sweden or the Åland islands. All Turku ferries can be booked easily and quickly through AFerry.co.uk

About Turku

Turku is the oldest and the fifth largest city in Finland. It has been the capital of Finland until 1812. Turku has always had an important place in the Finnish history. The city was totally destroyed by the great fire in 1827 but was rebuilt on either banks of the river with a new town plan under the vision of the architect C. L. Engel.

Turku is a versatile city where history and culture mix with a trendy life style seamlessly. Turku's best attraction is the river Aura and its banks. Some of the major attractions such as the city museum and art galleries are built around this river. Ett Hem museum, the Turku Castle dating back to 1280, Automobile and communications museum, Turku Cathedral (built in 1300) and the Finnish Biological museum are a few other must see places in Turku.

Turku is the centre for music and arts in Scandinavia which is evident in the number of theatres in the city.

Turku also offers a variety of restaurants and accommodation to suit everyone's taste and acts as a gateway to visit surrounding Aland Island and other Finnish cities.
