30 Jul 2019Pentland Ferries (Gills Bay)
I arrived at an earlier ferry on a motorcycle to ask if it was possible to get on. The positive reaction to squeeze me in was great. The crew were very efficient and knew what they were doing when securing the bike. Covers on seats and strapped down to chain anchors. Excellent crossing and docking to be given more than adequate time to get ready to disembark. I have used the Gills Bay ferry on a number of occasions to Orkney and will certainly use it again. Great value for money.

We travelled with our dog so were unable to access any indoor facilities during the trip. It would be nice to have a covered area for people travelling with pets.

20 Jul 2019Pleasant but pricey
Overall the journey there and back was pleasant with the weather being very kind both ways. Decent ferry, not sure why they don't serve a small range of alcoholic drinks and only limited refreshments were available. On boarding and disembarking was very good and well organised. Expensive crossing though at £204 for a car with 4 passengers, especially when considering you can cross to France for half the price.
