Ginostra is a small village set in a natural amphitheatre in the southwest region of Stromboli, in the Aeolian Islands. The area is unique in that there are no motor vehicles or roads, making the village peaceful and calming. Until 2004, the village had no electricity or running water.
Ginostra is a popular destination for hikers visiting the volcano, and for people interested in boating and fishing trips. The tranquillity makes Ginostra perfect for a relaxing break, away from the hustle and bustle found in many popular tourist destinations.
Ferries to and from Ginostra
Ustica Lines runs a fleet of 25 high-speed vessels, each ship equipped with air-conditioned rooms, TV, music, reclining seats and an onboard bar serving refreshments and snacks. The fastest ships can reach speeds of 36 knots.
Ginostra port facilities
Ginostra is a small, compact village centred around the harbour so you will find all amenities near to the port. Within walking distance you'll find shops, beautiful restaurants, hotels and of course the church which is one of the main tourist attractions.
Getting to Ginostra port
As there are no roads connecting Ginostra to the North-East side of Stromboli, the best way to reach the village is by boat. You can either take ferries from other Aeolian Islands with Ustica Line, or if you are already on the island of Stromboli find local boat trips to Ginostra.

The Aeolian Islands did not disappoint and the means of transport too. Island-hopping made easy, speedy and with an amenable crew.

08 Nov 2017SIRE MAL ferry - Make sure to know your rights they cheat you!!!
Left us one day without having noticed the delay in the ticket office. We could have cancelled the ticket for free, however they kept telling lies about the departure until one hour prior, when then again they wanted to get some money for a cancellation that should be FREE, because they did not departure on the day of the purchased ticket but the following day!!! We had to pay extra money for a hotel, got stressed, HORRIBLE treatment!

20 May 2017Off to climb Stromboli
The Liberty Libes website was down for maintenance so I was pleased that I was able to use AFerry to book our tickets. We had a tight schedule and needed to ensure we had our hydrofoil tickets so we could confirm all other arrangements. By the way, why do you not include Milazzo to Stromboli when that was the service we used? It calls at Ginostra but that is not the final destination.
