About Helsingor

Helsingor (also known as Elsinore) is a gateway from Denmark to Sweden but is also worth visiting in its own right. Situated in the island of Zealand in Denmark, it has about 50,000 residents. There are plenty of hotels, bars and restaurants to choose from if staying a few days. The town dates from the middle ages. Shakespeare fans will know Helsingor from Hamlet and should head to the large and majestic Kronborg Castle. In Hamlet, Shakespeare called Kronborg Castle Elsinore, however, whether he visited is not known.

Opposite the castle you will find the Culture Harbour of Kronborg where you can find a marine museum and an exhibition dedicated to ship-building.

    A Pleasant Experience

    A slick operation
    • A quick and slick operation - hardly time to drink a cup of coffee - and great if you're visiting the castle at Elsinore. However, it's expensive for a 20 minute trip.

    • Very nice ferry service, we were able to pick the ferry service before the actual departure time in one of the earlier ferries, which was very nice of them.Onboard facilities were quite nice.
