About Heysham

The town of Heysham is an interesting old fishing port. It acts as a gateway to the nearby popular seaside resort Morecambe and one of England's oldest cities, Lancaster. Worth exploring in Heysham is the new Heritage Centre, the public gardens and the ruins of the ancient chapel St Patrick's, close to St Peter's Church.

About Douglas

The kingdom of Man is a mystical island located at the geographical centre of the British Isles in the middle of the Irish Sea. The island is well connected to both Britain and Ireland, with daily departures from Douglas Ferry Port to Liverpool, Liverpool Birkenhead, Heysham, Dublin and Belfast. All Douglas ferries can be booked through AFerry

The island of Man measures just 33 miles by 13 but within these shores there is a wealth of discoveries to be made. It is a very different island, with its own legal system and the world's oldest continuous parliament - Tynwald.

The main port of Douglas has experienced changes with the construction of a second link span. This elevated passenger walkway was built on reclaimed land during the nineties to provide up-to-date facilities for the new design of conventional and fast roll on - roll off ferries now operating to the island.

    Family visit
    • Although the journey out was a bad one due to no seating and two of our three adults over 60 sat under the stairs from heysham -IOM . The journey back was a lot better due only to a lack of passengers allowing us to not only get a seat but have a good choice of seating . One of our group being over 80 was in premier but for the three of us and a car over £435 paid I would expect a seat both ways .

Pleasant way to get to the IoM
    • All went as expected with friendly greeting at Heysham, but not so at Douglas. Sailed on time but slight delay on return to Heysham due to other ships, at 11.30pm!! Plenty of space to sit but no point in paying extra to sit in Lounges. Very nice lady in the shop found my wallet which had slipped out of my pocket.
