About Stavanger

Stavanger offers an exciting mix of modern cosmopolitanism with medieval charm, attracting leading cruise-ship operators. Visitors tend to fall in love with Stavanger, especially "Old Stavanger", a very pretty and vibrant part of town. This area near the Stavanger Ferry Port is composed of small wooden houses and cobbled stone paths which are in complete contrast with the city's international and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The timber town, Stavanger archaeological museum, the culture house and Rogaland theatre, Utstein Monastery church, the Canning museum, the Norwegian printing museum and the most famous Pulpit rock (an extraordinary natural rock formation) are just a few attractions in Stavanger. The Stavanger Ferry port is conveniently located in the centre of Stavanger, with bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Poor food, expensive internet and unecessary restrictions
    • The restriction was to not allow us to take our food into the bar to eat it. We had to sit in the cafe area. And I do not expect to have to pay for internet access in 2016

    No organisation
    • I booked and payed in jan 2013 for a night trip in 4 berth luxe cabine. two weeks before departure I was informed that the time schedule was changed, by that time there were no more alternatives, no more cabins, all fully booked, so I accepted the new schedule. But during check in my cabine was no longer available, we had to stay 12 hours in a chair, to get my refund it is still ongoing.
