About Hitakatsu

Hitakatsu is a port city on the northern coast of Tsushima Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Tsushima Island is located between South Korea and Japan, about 60km from the South Korean mainland. The main island Tsushima was once a single island, but in 1671 it was divided into two and in 1900 by canals cut by narrow land bridges in the middle of the island, creating a "North Island" (Kamijima) and a "South Island" (Shimojima). What we call "Tsushima Island" generally includes these main islands and all surrounding small islands.

About South Korea

South Korea is in southern half of the Korean Peninsula, North Korea to the north, China to the west and Japan a short ferry ride to the southeast.
