About Ishigaki

Ishigaki Island is the largest of the Yaeyama Islands in the Okinawa Prefecture of Japan and is home to white sandy beaches, rare coral, mountains and mangrove forests. What Ishigaki lacks in terms of man-made tourist spots, it more than makes up for in terms of natural beauty. An inceasingly popular tourist destination, Ishigaki offers net-protected beaches for families, speciality Yaeyama soba noodles for foodies, beautiful coral reefs for snorkellers and hikes up Mount Nosoko for the adventurous, with impressive views along the emerald green waters of Kabira bay.

About Ohara

Ohara lies on the southern tip of Iriomote, an island that is the largest of the Yaeyama Islands which consists of 19 sub-tropical islands in the south western waters of Okinawa Prefecture (southern most point of Japan). Uehara has good ferry links with Ishigaki, Kohama and Taketomi in Okinawa. Iriomote island's highest peak is Mt. Komi at 469m. There are many activities available on Iriomote Island such as kayaking in the tropical rivers, trekking in the jungle interior and scuba diving on the island's spectacular coral reefs.
