Klaipeda is the third largest city in Lithuania and being the only port city, it has been invaded by various cultures like the Curonians, Germans and the Livonians in the past. This has lead to Klaipeda being influenced by all these cultures and developing into an intriguingly ethnic and multicultural city.
Klaipeda is a relatively small city and most of its population constitute of the working class people. There are very few sightseeing places in Klaipeda but what little there is will definitely be a rewarding experience. Some of the places of interest would be the St. Mary's and St. John's churches, the drama theatre built in 1857 and Mazvydas Sculpture Park with over 180 quirky art works to mention a few.
You can find great bargains and souvenirs in the old parts of the town and in the markets on theatre square.

07 Oct 2012A dream instead of driving through Poland!
I have driven from Italy to Lithuania several times but this was my first time through Kiel via Ferry. Fantastic! I havn't seen a Traffic-light in the whole trip. If you are thinking about it, just do it: GO Ferry!

15 Apr 2012Our trip was okay.
Paid £100 for myself and the car, then €36 onboard for the cabin. For that money I would have expected access to wireless internet (especially as I was travelling all the way from the UK to Estonia and it was important to me to let my friends know without effort where I am and how I am). The variety in the shop was small, prices too expensive (also in the restaurants). We were asked to leave the cabin an hour before actually getting off the ship, and stay in the bar area. We could have slept in our cabin for that hour.
