About Lipari

Lipari is the most populated and largest island of the Lipari Islands, sometimes called Aeolian Islands, which lie 15 to 35 miles off the northeast side of Sicily. Lipari was created by a succession of four volcanic movements, which left the island covered with pumice and obsidian. Ever since historical times pumice mining is an important industry on Lipari. The pale pumice is even shipped internationally. Ferries from Lipari sail to mainland Italy and can be booked through AFerry

Inhabited since Neolithic times, the island was colonized by Greeks in 575 BC, who called the island Meligunis. Greek and Roman ruins are still visible in the Diana District Archeological Park.

Thanks to its mild weather and breathless landscape with deep caverns and steep cliffs the island of Lipari is an ideal holiday destination. Besides some beautiful beaches you will find volcanoes, castles, thermal spa's, water sports and perfect fishing spots.

    Expensive considering the service offered
    • The boat could have been much more comfortable. It looked old and not well taken care of. The boat was noisy and the price very expensive considering the distance covered.

    Ferry from Naples to Lipari
    • As with most things on the Internet, when you purchase from an overseas company you take a risk that things don't work out how you wish! This was not the case with AFerry and was the second time we have used them. The collection of tickets couldn't have been easier and were there waiting for us on arrival at the departure point. Ferry ride was comfortable with no hassles and arrived on time. Would happily recommend booking this service again.

    Hydrofoil Napoli to lipari
    • The ticket should have in large letters expressed which to the two terminals to go to. I asked the hotel and the taxi driver. Both were wrong. Had to make it to a snav office before finding info. This required a second taxi trip under rushed circumstances.

    SNAV review
    • The booking and making payment was easy. Checking in at the ferry port was easy too. Only problem is that the email confirmation - all I had to go on - did not say WHICH port we had to report to. Luckily our taxi had not disappeared when he dropped us at SNAV office at the Naples harbour and then had to drive us a further half an hour to the correct port!!!

The worst ferry boat ride of my life
    • This experience on snav Napoli to Palermo has got to be the worst travel experience of my life......chaos chaos, and more chaos! I must say the rooms were clean, but that is the only positive I have to offer. Embarking and disembarking were like being in a third world country not modern Europe . Never again. I,ll fly next time.
