Lochboisdale is the main town in South Uist, built on a headland. Ferries from Lochboisdale sail to Castlebay on the Isle of Barra, as well as Oban and Mallaig in mainland Scotland. Ferries to and from Lochboisdale can be booked with AFerry

Lochboisdale port facilities
There is a waiting room at the port, which can seat up to 10 people. Accessible toilets and baby changing facilities are available. The nearest shops, cash machines and petrol stations are in the town, just 300 metres from the port.
Getting to Lochboisdale
From North Uist, the A865 South leads to Lochboisdale, and the port is well signposted.
Although there is no bus stop at the port, bus services are able to make stops at the port on request. The W17 bus service calls through Lochboisdale.
There is a taxi rank at the front of the terminal building.
Lochboisdale ferry port is South Uist's main port. Lochboisedale is reached from Oban and Castlebay. There is also a regular bus service between Lochboisdale and Ludag . There also is car hire in Lochboisdale and you can rent bikes to cycle around Lochboisedale.
