Lochmaddy is the island's main village and the administrative centre of North Uist in the outer Hebrides. The original name of the settlement was Cearsabhagh or Kersivay, probably given by Norse residents.
The town's main attraction is Taigh Chearsabhagh, a community arts centre and museum where you can also find a shop and cafe. Overlooked by picturesque mountains, the wild and beautiful landscape of the place is sure to take your breath away as you arrive by ferry. North Uist is perfect for fishing, walking and taking in the stunning natural landscape.
The small village of Uig is situated on west coast of the Isle of Skye. The village is mostly known as the location of the ferry port which connects Skye to Uist and Harris. While a small village you can still find accommodation and a few places to eat especially in the summer.

Due to weather, we wanted to leave the island two days early. We were first in the queue for a stand by but still got on. In fact 6 after us got on too. Ships food was good value and tasty.
