About Marseille

Marseille itself is a major centre of art and history, with many museums and galleries to visit. Most of the cities attractions can be found in the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th arrondissements. These include the Old Port, the lighthouse of Sainte Marie, the history museum and much more. Transport in and around the city is simple, with an extensive network of motorways connecting Marseille to the North, West and East, a railway station with direct services to Nice, Toulouse and Barcelona, and an extensive bus network that serves the city and the suburbs of Marseille.

About Porto Vecchio

Historically, the economy of Porto Vecchio was dependent on salt and became known as the 'city of salt'. Today, the salt marshes are no longer functioning and are home to a variety of wading birds.

    Ship needs maintenance !! Now!!
    • Ship needs maintenance. Is in bad condition. Broken toilets, non-functioning toilet doors, almost all furniture is in bad condition. Carpeting is dirty, ceilings full of dust, personal not helpfull. The trip is far from cheap but has defintely got the impression of being cheap. Allthough the cabins are clean also there there is a lack of maintenance. All the furniture in the cabin was damaged and in bad condition.

    Holiday in Corsica
    • All OK with one problem: When we wanted to have dinner we had to take TWO menus, even if one of us was not hungry and didn't want to eat at that time. We had two options: 1. one of us to leave and the other to eat alone (not nice!) 2. take&pay two menus and leave one on the table (which we did!)

    Out of season travel
    • We have travelled as foot passengers several times, and always out of season (just). Usually, only one restaurant, the most expensive, is open, and we do not consider it good value for money, so take our own food. The cabins although small, are clean and adequate, but I can't imagine how an overweight person would manage in the shower/toilet cubicle! The disembarking arrangements for foot passengers is a bit of a free for all, but somehow seems to work. The SNCM office in Marseille is well situated and convenient. We really enjoy travelling by ferry: it is a very good way to start a holiday, allowing time to wind down, relax and enjoy the views.

    On board "Pascal Paoli"
    • Excellent crosing but one irritating problem i.e. lack of self-serve restaurant for a comfortable light meal when the main restaurant is not an option. Cabin very clean and comfortable. Vehicle deck parking well organised including lift to upper decks.

One of the highlights of our trip
    • Arriving in to the Porto Vecchio Harbour, in brilliant morning sunshine, while enjoying a great breakfast was one of the highlights of our trip. We only decided to take this ferry after a flight was cancelled, but would definitely do it again. Thanks
