Paros is one of the smaller islands in the Cyclades but has long been a tourist favourite. Why? Because Paros is neither too busy like neigbouring Mykonos or too crowded like neighbouring Santorini. Here you'll find crystal clear water and an unspoled landscape including Paros park one of the few completely protected nature reserves in the Cyclades islands.
The main town (Chora) is Parikia and here you'll find charming small shops and white-washed streets. However, in recent years the nearby fishing village of Nauossa has become a more popular hot spot and especially in July and August it resembles a mini-Mkyonos.
Paros has many fine tavernas and bars with mezze and you'll never be stuck for choice. But if it's clubs and dancing you want, stay clear. And in addition to the main settlements you'll find some charming villanges in the middle of the island like Lefkes - the old capita in times when pirates were a real threat and so the inland was much safer. Here you'll see how life used to be before tourism.
If you're island hopping in the Cyclades, Paros should definitely be on your itinerary.
Mykonos is a very cosmopolitan island, made famous in the last few decades by the international jet set visitors that spend their holidays on the island. Mykonos is a great place to see Greek and international celebrities. Some people think you have not really seen what Greece has to offer until you visit Mykonos.
Mykonos has a great night life with many discos and bars throughout the island along with some beautiful sandy beaches. All in all Mykonos is a friendly little picturesque town with beautiful white houses, narrow stone paths and windmills along with many interesting museums and town centres.
Mykonos also offers a variety of cuisines to cater to the large influx of international tourists along with local Greek delicacies and also offers a host of beautiful accommodation facilities and resorts.
11 Aug 2018Great service but beware Mykonos check in
Booked out ferries from Mykonos to Paros from home and found the whole booking system excellent, and the boat (Minoan Lines) was also really good. However, we went to the ticket window at Mykonos to get our paper tickets and were repeatedly told we didn not need them. When we tried to board the ferry of course they demanded paper tickets, and it was only because we were already afloat that we got on at all. They checked our booking and we were on their list but it was a very stressful moment being told initially that we didnt have a valid ticket. The Paros port experience in contrast was absolutely fine, they found our booking easily and issued paper tickets. So - beware - make sure you insist on getting a paper ticket if you meet the same grumpy guy on the desk that we had in Mykonos!

20 Jul 2013Timing
The trip was very punctual and enjoyable and went to plan. The outward journey from Mykonos to Paros on a fast ferry was not good. We arrived on Mykonos at 12.00 on a Tuesday and the first ferry to Paros should have been at 17.00. We were notified before leaving the Uk that it was to be re-scheduled to depart at 18.00. It actually arrived at 20.00. This ment we had to wait in Mykonos for 8 hrs.

17 Jul 2013Nice journey
We had a very fast journey in VIP. Some of the staff taking tickets were quite rushed as they were trying to make up time. Staff on board were better. VIP was very nice.
