About Paros

Paros is one of the smaller islands in the Cyclades but has long been a tourist favourite. Why? Because Paros is neither too busy like neigbouring Mykonos or too crowded like neighbouring Santorini. Here you'll find crystal clear water and an unspoled landscape including Paros park one of the few completely protected nature reserves in the Cyclades islands.

The main town (Chora) is Parikia and here you'll find charming small shops and white-washed streets. However, in recent years the nearby fishing village of Nauossa has become a more popular hot spot and especially in July and August it resembles a mini-Mkyonos.

Paros has many fine tavernas and bars with mezze and you'll never be stuck for choice. But if it's clubs and dancing you want, stay clear. And in addition to the main settlements you'll find some charming villanges in the middle of the island like Lefkes - the old capita in times when pirates were a real threat and so the inland was much safer. Here you'll see how life used to be before tourism.

If you're island hopping in the Cyclades, Paros should definitely be on your itinerary.

    voucher not ticket
    • Excellent site. Lovely ferry. Tiny comment - for folk like me who don't check - please stress that it's a voucher and not the ticket - had to go and redeem it at the kiosk at Piraeus - meant I was a bit rushed.

    Good Value Ferry Service
    • We recently travelled from Piraeus to Paros. Collection of tickets at the port was extremely easy. Ferry sailed on time both directions. Clean and comfortable and though longer journey times than other ferries this did not put me off. The car boarding at Piraeus was a bit scary as seemed dis-organised with one chap doing lots of shouting in Greek trying to point us where to position car once inside ferry! That aside I couldn't complain and would thoroughly recommend the service.

Piraeus to Paros Ferry After a Night Flight
    • Greek ferries no longer what they used to be! Modern ferries with good service. We travelled on the 0725 from Piraeus to Paros (continues to Naxos). Got the 0510 bus from Athens airport which arrived at Piraeus 0610. Quoted booking reference at Blue Star office across road from bus stop to get tickets. On board by about 0615. Booked business class which is a quiet lounge. Stretched out on couches for a sleep but in the past we had been asked not to put our feet up. Arrived Paros refreshed! Stayed in Antiparos which is a further 20 minute boat trip or bus and 5 minute ferry.
