About Porto Torres
The Basilica of San Gavino is well worth a visit. Dating from the 11th Century, it is made up of precious hard stones such as marble. It is the only example of its type in Sardinia.
Ajaccio is the capital city of Corsica and one of the the best ports from which to get to the island from mainland France and Sardinia.

17 May 2013Olbia to Ajaccio
This is a nice way to enjoy the beautiful waters of the Med. Brief and inexpensive trip, which ended for me in the most beautiful Med city of all, Ajaccio. The lack of data regarding obtaining ticket, place for doing just that, and the hike to the boat presented some difficulties. The ticketing crew managed to serve the patrons in between some ongoing discussion between them, which slowed the process. More information on getting around the ship would likely help. Some travellers still speak languages other than Italian and French, so some electronic communicator might be helpful.

24 May 2012Arrival & Boarding Instructions
Having been advised when buying tickets on the net to be there 2 hours ahead for boarding we duly did so ,arriving by Taxi with 4 pieces of luggage. The taxi dropped us at the port entrance, the security people advised us we had to check in first at a tiny building way over the other side of the port ,no signage or instructions to be seen ? There was a bus that had picked us up half way (with all luggage in tow) ,we collected our boarding passes & returned to gate ,security then tell us we cannot board for another hour,no shelter or seating while waiting at the gate in the hot sun & gusty winds .It seems everything is geared to travellers with vehicles . Not a great start to the journey , which itself was very pleasant !
