About Porto Vecchio

Porto Vecchio is located in South East Corsica and is the third largest town on the island. As well as the port, Porto Vecchio is a tourist destination in its own right with tourists being attracted to the area's beautiful beaches. In fact, in the summer months the population of the town increases four-fold. Historically, the economy of Porto Vecchio was dependent on salt and became known as the 'city of salt'. Today, the salt marshes are no longer functioning and are home to a variety of wading birds.

About Italy

Italy boasts a wealth of popular destinations and has something for everyone to enjoy.

Take a romantic gondola ride in Venice, see the ancient Colosseum in Rome, visit the leaning tower of Pisa, admire the many masterpieces in the Uffizi gallery of Florence or simply relax on one of the many beautiful beaches that can be found along Italy's miles of stunning coastline.

Florence is an often overlooked tourist destination. However, it is well worth a visit.

The town was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and it still shows in the architecture of the city. There are many fine art galleries from famous artists - including the Galleria degli Uffizi, where you can see Boticelli's `Birth of Venus'.

The galleries themselves are often works of art, with the walls and ceiling ornately decorated with various brightly coloured murals.
